This is a fanart from Legend of Mana. Pictured here are Pearl and Elazul. There is enough evidence in the game to support a Pearl x Elazul wannabe relationship, but there's also enough evidence to deny the existence of such a thing. Basically, it's open to your interpretation. For reasons that seem sound to me (and because I really am a romantic at heart), I support Pearl x Elazul.

However, this is not, to me, a lovey-dovey picture. Just because they're holding each other and he has flowers, does not mean that this picture is the fulfillment of secret desires. Perhaps quite the opposite. My roommate commented that I never draw happy couples. They always look sad, or blank. I hadn't noticed that until she brought it up. They don't look happy. At all. Yet they cling so tightly to each other. Almost as if they're afraid.

The Jumi are a secretive race. They are distrustful, because nearly all of their race has been wiped out. They're "strangers in a strange land." They each have some dark secrets that, should they come to light, would dash another's world to pieces.
At least, that's how it is with Lady Pearl. And should Elazul find out...

I believe that they both know they can't be together, but for different reasons. They each have too many secrets. So it is not a happy, love-filled picture I've drawn. It's a picture of quiet, almost pathetic longing for something that is forever out of reach...
